Can you point me to an undedited comment of yours where you refer to China as "capitalist?" If not, I'm calling bullshit on your third paragraph.
China is a communist, authoritarian (far too authoritarian to my mind) government. It was the communists in China (and the USSR) that raised the most people (certainly by numbers, I've never checked how they rank as percentage of population) out of poverty more quickly than any other countries in the history of the world.
I disagree with the blanket statement about capitalism. All of the countires that have been most successful - as I define it - since the end of feudalism have been social democratic countries that allow capitalism to compete openly with the state.
The more socialism is curtailed, the more the state tends towards oligopoly and fascism, from Nazi Germany to the current US. The more countries lean in to socialism, the happier the residents are, from Scandinavia to my adopted city of Vienna, Austria.
To answer your question, I think the Chinese communists get the blame for Evergrande, just as they get the credit for getting so many people out of poverty.
The real pickle for my brain is the question, "Would the USSR or China have been so successful getting so many people out of poverty if they weren't so authoritarian?" I don't know the answer, but it is interesting to ponder! What do you think?
