Because the "expense" is paid by the US taxpayer financially and the Ukrainian public financially and physically. The US MIC and US energy companies are making a fortune. Blackrock is set to make a fortune "rebuilding" whatever is left of Ukraine.
The US donor class is all for this war. There is no downside for them in continuing.
