Because that is what societies ALREADY do. We set up a society with courts and police and roads and markets so that money can be made. It is fully in OUR power to say what the limits are on contracts between willing third parties.
Without roads and stadiums and contracts for TV and courts to adjudicate those contracts - all paid for by society - then only local people can watch the Golden State Warriors and there are no big contracts.
So it is fully within the right of society to say the owners of basketball teams and players pay 50% tax on money from 1 to $5 million, and 90% above that. That tax money pays for the all that infrastructure, and health care for the people who maintain that infrastructure.
