At the beginning of my career I made a lot of money each year. I had a wife whose attitude was, "Everything is just enough." I realized that no matter how much I made, there was always more to make because there was always more to have. I was going to spend my life never achieving success, because "success" as I was defining it (and being pushed to define it) was "infinite wealth" which by definition is impossible to achieve.

I also I realized I would probably die of a heart attack working myelf to death around age 50. Not unironically, that is how my first wife's father died.

I was lucky this happened early enough in my life to make some changes. I started to live that Ben Franklin quote, "Wealth is not his that has it, but his that enjoys it" or "Want what you have, not have what you want." My second wife was also instrumental in helping me with this transition in my attitude.

All this leads to me enjoying my life (while still being very ambitious and working hard) while understanding life is finite. Stopping time or going back in time is impossible (so far), so enjoy your ride while it lasts.
