Astute essay. I’ve been writing for years that the US is taking a similar path to Germany’s in the 1930s. Of course there are differnces. History never completely repeats itself. Plus, the US fascists learned from Hitler’s mistakes that it is much better (i.e. healthier when shit goes south) to lead from behind the throne than to sit on it.
