As I said, "Hypersonic missiles can take out targets that subsonic missiles and gravity bombs can't."

A hypersonic missile has far more kinetic energy than a gravity bomb or a regular missile. It is a matter of physics.

I don't know if you've ever done much carpentry, but it is like the difference of driving a nail with a regular hammer vs. a framing hammer. A framing hammer has a longer handle. With the longer lever arm to the fulcrum (your hand), the head of the hammer hits the head of the nail MUCH harder than a regular hammer (higher angular velocity). So you can drive a nail into a 2x4 with one stroke rather than 2 or 3.

Same principle with a hypersonic missile. If there is a bunker with thick concrete, a regular missile might damage it on the surface, but a hypersonic missile can drive right into it (maybe even through the concrete), and the payload does then MUCH more damage.
