Anyone in the comments claiming that Aaron Bushnell or anyone else killing themselves can only be mentally ill is just coping.

How many war stories and movies have there been where a soldier throws himself on a grenade (or something similar where he will clearly die) to try to save his comrades? That is suicide. The guy who died is called a hero by his comrades.

Is it not then plausible that Aaron Bushnell killed himself in the hope of saving the lives of others? I think so.

On a related point: Assisted suicide has been around for millennia, and is accepted in many countries around the world including in the US:

The number of countries were suicide is accepted is growing, not shrinking. So clearly there are times when suicide is NOT a mental illness. I will absolutely agree that wanting to commit suicide COULD be a result of mental illness.
