Another great post about LA.

I had a great aunt who lived in San Pedro. I visited her as a kid probably early 70s, and then once more in the 80s before she died.

As a mid-west kid I remember how awesome it was that we could walk to the beach from her house (about 12 blocks IIRC) and smell the ocean from her yard.

My great aunt was a quirky lady, so I guess she fit in in San Pedro. I thought she was really cool. Very independent. Never married or even acknowledged her boyfriend who lived next door. Really cool. I have a niece named after her.
