AirBnB should be illegal. "Short term rentals" does not equal "AirBnB." Hotels, B&Bs and other commercial short term rentals are all valid and legal alternatives to AirBnB. Similar to Uber, AirBnB skirts zoning laws and customer protections to extract additional wealth from the drivers/renters.
You are incorrect about those bubbles quickly bursting when companies like AirBnB spend huge sums to keep laws from being enforced and/or getting laws passed to stop residential properties being used as unregulated commercial properties.
You are 180° off on what I want regarding gains. You are also 180° off on my views about real estate (and investments in general). Investments in stocks and real estate should be (IMO) for long term holding and growth, not for short term trades. Short term trading in company stocks and real estate is by definition speculation. It at at best does not help the market, and in particular is disadvantageous to small investors.
