A funny personal story about 7 Up. My mom grew up in a conservative household and was not allowed to drink.

She snuck out with friends and went to a party where there was *gasp* alcohol! All the kids were drinking "7 and 7." This was in the 50s. My mom didn't know what "7 and 7" was, but didn't want to let on that she didn't know, so she drank several.

Next thing she remembers she is crawling up the front lawn yakking her guts out, with my grandfather sternly watching from the porch.

The "Seagram's 7" was not the problem. My mom's stomach cannot handle ANY carbonation. A bit of bubbles and she...you guesed it...yaks her guts out. So the "7 Up" in her beverages was the cause of her "backwards drinking."

We laugh about the story to this day.
