A few years ago my wife and I decided to do a "staycation" as I was travelling extensively for work and really didn't want to fly somewhere. Also, we live in a city people save for years to visit once (Vienna, Austria) and there were many places we both hadn't seen in town. Win-win.

We enjoyed it very much, but hanging out for days on end at home we also realized we had several things we wanted to change around our flat in the city, to make it nicer when we spent more time there. Since then we have renovated/upgraded every room in the flat except for the closets (too scary due to the chaos reining there), and our yard and terraces.

Now we love our flat so much that trips longer than a few days are not so interesting. Then covid hit and holy shit were we NOT distressed to have to stay at home. I feel really bad for all the people stuck in lockdowns in cramped spaces.

We do want to go places again on vacation after a few years of being at home, but definitely in a relaxed way.
