The logic I'm using is relative. What does "Russia is strong" mean?

The logic I'm using is relative. What does "Russia is strong" mean? Ukraine was armed and trained for 8 years by NATO. One battalion a month was trained in-country by US forces. …

You write like you rejoice at the prospect of a Ukrainian defeat.

You are wrong in your assumption.

You are wrong in your assumption. I get no joy at the thought of Ukrainian defeat. I have visited Ukraine. I have Ukrainian friends, and friends who (until Russia's invasion) lived in Ukraine. I've never been to Russia, and have lost touch with my old Russian friends (including my second…

It will be hard to get all the facts of this battle until it is long over.

Circular logic in that second paragraph.

Circular logic in that second paragraph. You base your unproven kill rate on the unproven "Russian cannon fodder" trope. There has been no proof of "human wave" tactics by either side, despite propaganda from both sides that the other side is using that tactic. Satellite images show individual bodies on…

No he most certainly is not.

No he most certainly is not. Putin is dictator of a resource rich country. Less brutal than Saudi Arabia or the other gulf Kingdoms or even our ex-buddy Hussein. Russia, and Putin in specific, does not have an ideology to remove all Jews from Europe, or to expand Russian "lebens-raum." …

…people have been able to explain what happens after Ukraine wins. I mean, let’s think this through. Ukraine wins the war. Russia collapses into a puddle and it’s every man for himself, right? You know you’d like to see some comeuppance for Russia.

...and then you wake up and realize you fell asleep in front of a US MSM "news" show. "The West is about 18% of the world. Russia can sell to the rest of the world." This fact appears lost to the US. Less so in Europe, but the EU politicians…

Which data, specifically, would that be?

Which data, specifically, would that be? Ukraine's stated intercept rates are not mathematically possible, so they must be taken with a grain of salt. For example, they will claim to have shot down 60 of 70 missiles in an attack, but a separate official Ukraine statement about the same attack…

Thanks for the praise.

Thanks for the praise. I have consciously NOT published, nor monetized my Medium presence. I know my personality way too well. I have a LOT of work (I'm self-employed) and medium is a break from my technical work. I spend too much time on Medium as it is. If I was making money from Medium, I would feel compelled to spend much more time writing, editing and posting regularly - which would detract from my day job which pays way better than Medium.

The term "carpet bombing" refers to gravity bombs dropped by planes.

The term "carpet bombing" refers to gravity bombs dropped by planes. So far the Russian air force has seen very limited action. Mostly firing missiles from "safety" across the Russian border. Ironically, this is because the Soviet-era layered air defense of Ukraine was really good at the beginning of the invasion. Russia has been using the same tactics the US used in Iraq to find Ukrainian anti-missile radar and missile batteries and slowly knocking them out over the last year.

As I said, "Hypersonic missiles can take out targets that subsonic missiles and gravity bombs can't.

As I said, "Hypersonic missiles can take out targets that subsonic missiles and gravity bombs can't." A hypersonic missile has far more kinetic energy than a gravity bomb or a regular missile. It is a matter of physics. I don't know if you've ever done much carpentry, but it is…

Vienna has subsidized mass transit for decades.

Vienna has subsidized mass transit for decades. Roughly 60% of Vienna's nearly 2 million residents use public transport at least once per week. The "subsidization" is actually a great investment. You can't continue to expand roads in a 1000 year old city. Road maintenance is expensive. Noise and air pollution are far worse from cars than mass transit (Vienna has a LOT of electric buses and getting more each year).
