I can recall how Russia offered terms of peace at the very beginning. In March there were reports of significant progress on a 15-point plan for peace. And then, Ukraine refused upon the urging of the US and the UK. Seeing that they had backing from the US and UK, Ukraine decided to escalate instead of pursuing peace.

I've been self-employed for 28 years. I've also divorced and remarried. If you looked at my business or my personal life right after cutting ties to a large but difficult customer, or just after my divorce, you might make a staement like, "the decision to get divorced [busines or personal] has permanently weakened Jack at all levels.

What I find very distressing about the situation is that when Trump won, the Democratic establishment did the same thing, starting the #RussiaGate hoax. They used that to claim Trump did not legitimately win, that the Electors of the Electoral College should change their votes to not allow Trump to tak office. They used it to undermine Trump for 4 years. Now maybe it is a good thing that Trump couldn't do all he wanted, but to base the resistence on the false claim that Trump is a "traitor," "Putin-puppet," etc. is an incredibly dangerous precedent.

I quit many years ago.

I quit many years ago. Right now my sister and I (and a bit of help from my brother) are trying to deal with our mom, an alcoholic, and my other sister, who enables our mom. I can't answer for her about #2 and 4, as she would just lie, but 1 and 5 are constant, major issues. Mom also has, apparently, a body built for drinking, as her blood work is really good. It is probably the only reason she's not dead or a vegetable after having a major stroke.

It is a great place to live, whether you are retired or not. Vienna was voted the most livable city 10 years in a row recently. I can only confirm. The only new issue is that thanks to the sanctions against the EU - I mean Russia - our energy prices are exploding. I'd definitely advise you to wait a year or so to see how thngs go with the Ukraine war before packing your bags for Vienna.

I would count those as losses. We've spent more this year in Ukraine in our proxy war against Russia than we did in any year in Afghanistan, after spending 8 years building up the country. The result is that Russia controls 20% of the country and that grows (albeit very slowly) every few days. I'd count that one a draw so far, since Russia has MiGs. Ukraine used to have lots of planes too...
