~10 years ago I was on a business trip with some clients. One of the up and coming client guys was super impressed that I was in the top 5% (or something like that) of influencers (or whatever they were called then) on LinkedIn.
All I was doing was posting comments on technical projects and areas of my expertise.
I realized multiple things:
1) I was getting no new business or even leads from my posts over several months;
2) It was spending a LOT of time posting;
3) I was getting attention from people who were not decision makers;
4) Being in the top 5% of influencers on LinkedIn and €3 will get you a good espresso.
I'm still on LinkedIn, but never post anything.
